Energy Conservation and Building Code

Do you know that we can save energy if we take certain precautions when we construct a building? You can see a few tips here.

Government of India has launched the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) as an initiative in this regard. We expect remarkable energy savings by the mandatory enforcement of ECBC. But it is advisable to conduct Awareness Programmes before making anything mandatory.

So in our college we have organized an awareness seminar on ECBC on 7.9.2016. This seminar was conducted and sponsored by the Energy Management Centre, Govt. of Kerala and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Govt. of India.   

There were participants from 13 different institutions. Also, the audience comprised of people from various disciplines, viz., Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Literature, Physics, Chemistry, etc.

 Dr. Geethamma V. G. delivered the welcome speech. Dr. P. N. Joshi, Principal, delivered the presidential address. The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. A. M. Narayanan, Head, Energy Efficiency Division, EMC. Later, Mr. Shirish M. Deshpande, Master Trainer handled the classes. Towards the end, Mr. Baby Joseph, Librarian, delivered the vote of thanks. The Co-conveners of the seminar were Ms. Lini Abraham, Ms. Anupa Maria and Ms. Jincy Joy.
