In 2012, I conceptualized and directed my first Educational Video Film, “Nylon Rope Trick”. You may watch it here. Its script was written by me. But I couldn’t handle the camera and so I sought the help of a videographer. During childhood, I used to read the scripts of movies (by famous Malayalam film directors) published in Film Magazines. Still remember, I asked him to take the “close up shot” when Nylon was formed in the container. So with the intention of learning more about taking educational videos by myself, I joined the FDP on Basic Smartphone Journalism conducted by the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
When the classes were started I understood that majority of the participants are with a background of film / media studies /mass communication/ journalism, except a few people like me. Most of the participants have a thorough knowledge on the subject and are enquiring about the number of frames, teleprompter App, Green screen, OTS shot, POV shot etc.
I realized that it is difficult for a beginner like me to learn the entire things in a short span of time. Anyway, the course generated an enthusiasm to learn more about different software and Apps for developing quality videos.
On the previous day of the FDP, Yogesh sir helped me patiently in enrolling the class. Classes were handled by different faculty members, Mr. Ritesh Taksande, Mr. Anand Bhutkar, Mr. Bishwa Behura and Mr. Pranavkumar.
I have been a teacher for several years. I take classes for 2 hours. OK, It is normal. Sometimes it is extended to 3 hours. Still OK for me; but may not be OK for my students. But in this FDP, apart from three sessions all the other classes were managed by Ritesh sir. He was always pleasant and answered the queries of participants patiently. Participants did not want to miss even a single moment of the classes.
The work of a few participants are given in the beginning of this post.
Memorable five days. Thank you.
